    The Client

the Jane Goodall Institute are a global community conservation organisation that advances the vision and work of Dr. Jane Goodall. The Challenge

The organisation had been communicating across its global offices using only emails from a single server. The server had caused many problems, such as server-syncing issues, bulky emails and the inability to carbon copy specific individuals into the written email. The use of emails to share documentation and general communications across the whole organisation left them reliant on the email platform. The global organisation had no sharing platform to share news or documentation securely and they also had no internal communication channel that would enable them to liaise with all offices efficiently; this was the challenge.

    The Solution

The Apprentice Store introduced the solution of a SharePoint intranet to Jane Goodall Institute; this solution would allow the organisation to share news items, documentation and various resources externally to volunteers and internally within the organisation. The SharePoint intranet enabled the organisation to collaborate on content safely and efficiently and made it possible to grant management departments specific access. The additional solution of Microsoft Teams was brought up in conversation as a solution to their internal communications challenge as this would allow communications between offices and directors worldwide. Once approved, the implementation of Microsoft Teams went ahead along with the SharePoint intranet.

    The Benefit

Support from The Apprentice Store allowed the SharePoint intranet and Microsoft Teams to be implemented successfully to work across the Jane Goodall Institute global offices. With the most recent communications with Jane Goodall Institute, the charity has said that the platforms are excellent and that using them to communicate and share documents with their international offices is much simpler. The Apprentice Store not only implemented their new SharePoint intranet and Microsoft Teams, but they also migrated their emails to Microsoft Outlook – which was recognised as “a game-changer” by the Jane Goodall Institute since they now had a functioning email service in place.

Jane Goodall Institute’s team that The Apprentice Store worked closely with throughout the process frequently mentioned that the service was beneficial, and, in some cases, very relieving as specific methods seemed frightening. Still, each worry was removed by the experience and skill of The Apprentice Store team. Donna Harman, Jane Goodall Institute’s Internal Communications Advisor, spoke positively of the whole team, mentioning that the group “went above and beyond to solve any problems and find a solution that would work”. The speed at which the team worked was also something that Jane Goodall Institute mentioned was refreshing, commenting on how they have talked with other IT companies who have left their support tickets open for months without regular communication.
